Carl Brown
Carl Brown has been behind the camera since 1976, when he started out photographing guests at resort hotels in Florida, Georgia, and on Michigan's Mackinac Island. He came to Red River in 1982 to manage the photo concession at the Red River Ski Area, and in 1985 he bought the operation and launched Southern Exposure Photography.
Since then, Carl has photographed just about everything the Enchanted Circle has to offer: skiers on the mountain, rafters on the Rio Grande, high school proms, youth sports, bike races, and motorcycle rallies. He is best known for outdoor family portraits, reunions, senior portraits, and weddings, all shot in the mountains instead of a studio, so clients can relax and be themselves. He works quickly and calmly in unpredictable conditions.
A father of eight and grandfather of eleven, Carl knows how much family photos mean and treats every session that way. Clients often mention his patience, and his goal is simple: a good time for you and photos you'll treasure for a lifetime.
